Born in 1957, Nick Andrew did a Foundation course in Art and Design at Oxford Polytechnic before going on to study Graphic Design at the London College of Printing, and Painting at Cheltenham College of Art (gaining a BA Hons) in 1979.He has exhibited widely, both with one man and mixed exhibitions in London, all over the U.K. and on the continent. Nick Andrew won the Spink-Ledger First Prize in 1998 and was again a finalist in 1999. His work is in many collections both public and private such as P & O, Scottish Equitable, Prudential Assurance, Royal London Hospital, Shell UK, Lloyds Bank, North Sea Ferries, Cable & Wireless, Texaco, Houses of Parliament and St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Many of his paintings are of the area around the River Wylye, close to his home and therefore tend to be of water. His work is quiet and intimate and portrays the secluded places within the landscape, showing the changes day to day and season to season. In the water he looks for the aspects of rhythm, pattern, depth and multi-layering, as well as making one aware of the huge breadth of moods it inspires.
