IAN GREENSITT

Born in 1971, he grew up in Tynedale and went to school in Newcastle. He had his first sculpture commission at the age of 9, when the headmaster of his prep school asked him to sculpt a brown trout for his study. Subsequently Ian studied abstract sculpture at Northumbria University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Sculpture in 2001. Since then he has pursued his twin passions of fishing and wildlife art to widespread acclaim. In the early days Ian worked in ceramic (particularly fish) and this experience helped him develop the refined style of his bronze and silver work today, which captures the grace and movement of his subjects whilst maintaining their vitality. His bronze sculptures are sold in limited editions of 9 and the majority of his work is commissioned. One of his latest, a life size ‘Leaping Roe Deer’ was inspired by several months of study and observation on Lord Allendale’s Estate near his home. Ian’s work is exhibited widely and his worldwide list of clients and collectors is extensive.  His passionate commitment to the conservation of wildlife remains as strong as his dedication to his art.
